what does this installer do?
>this installer sets up two key components:
-agentic mcp server: connects claude to your specific shopify store using your store name and admin api access token
-shopify dev mcp server: provides general shopify functionality and documentation to claude
>the installer performs the following actions on your mac:
$creates a folder at ~/apps/a.gentic/ to store server scripts
$installs node version manager (nvm) if not already present
$installs node.js v20.19.0 using nvm
$creates startup scripts for both mcp servers
$updates claude desktop's configuration to enable these servers
requirements
-macos 10.15 or later
-claude desktop app installed
-shopify store with admin api access
-shopify admin api access token (starts with shpat_)
-a.gentic mcp key (starts with mcpkey_)
installation instructions
1.download the installer: click the download button at the bottom of this page
2.open the installer: double-click the downloaded file
>important: macos may show a security warning saying the app "cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer." this is normal for apps not downloaded from the mac app store.
>to allow installation:
-click "cancel" on the warning dialog
-open system settings (or system preferences)
-go to "privacy & security"
-scroll down to the section "security"
-look for the message about the blocked app and click "open anyway"
-confirm in the popup dialog by clicking "open"
3.follow the prompts:
-enter your shopify store name (the part before .myshopify.com)
-enter your shopify admin api access token (starts with shpat_)
4.wait for installation to complete: this may take a few minutes
5.restart claude desktop: after installation completes, restart claude to activate the new servers

-answer questions about your products, orders, and customers
-help you analyze your store performance
-assist with inventory management
-create product descriptions, ads, and more

obtaining a shopify admin api access token
>to get a shopify admin api access token:
1.log in to your shopify admin panel
2.go to apps > develop apps
3.create a new app or use an existing one
4.under api credentials, configure admin api access
5.generate a new admin api access token
6.copy the token (it starts with shpat_)
troubleshooting
>if you encounter issues:
-make sure you've restarted claude desktop after installation
-verify that your shopify admin api token has the necessary permissions
-check that your store name was entered correctly

uninstallation
>to uninstall:
1.delete the mcp server entries from claude desktop's configuration file at ~/library/application support/claude/claude_desktop_config.json
2.delete the ~/apps/a.gentic/ folder
3.restart claude desktop
